By David Hunter Time to get ready for the Tour! Route Stage 1 The race begins with a sprint stage, with a few climbs to roll over near the start. At 196km, it’s long but shouldn’t be a challenge.
By David Hunter Brig – Cari 126.4km A short but demanding stage. We continue with the recent trend and shortening stages but packing in a huge amount of climbing.
By David Hunter Rheinfelden – Champagne 193km I will refrain some a silly joke about champagne! This is the last day for the sprinters, after this stage, we head to the mountains.
By David Hunter Grosswangen – Rheinfelden 192.6km Time for a tough day in the saddle. After a fairly gentle start to the race, this stage is more typical of racing in Switzerland.
By David Hunter Le Pont de Claix – Superdevoluy 151km Last day. After two great stages, we could be in for another terrific day.
By David Hunter Baar – Baar 187.6km Another day in Baar. After the opening TT, this should be one for the sprinters.
By David Hunter La Rochette – Meribel 141km GC battle, round 2! If today wasn’t enough for you, we have another cracking stage ahead.
By David Hunter Baar 6.4km ITT Welcome to Switzerland. Not many corners on the TT course, this should be one for the specialists.
By David Hunter Last year was a bumper edition of the race, keeping us entertained until the very end. It’s going to be hard to live up to those expectations. Route Stage 1
By David Hunter La Ravoire – Vaujany 140km Here starts the GC battle. This is the first of three stages that will determine the winner of the Dauphine. All three stages have a few things in common:- they are short, they include mountains and they should be great to watch.
By David Hunter Tain l’Hermitage – Belley 176km The last chance for the sprinters. Quite a boring day for the bunch.
By David Hunter Boen sur Lignon – Tournon sur Rhone 187.5km The peloton head past Saint Etienne, a city where I have enjoyed many a drink! Beware the little kicker, as the Aussies would say.
By David Hunter Creches sur Saone – Chalmazel 168km A much harder day in the saddle. It’s not a mountain top finish, so this will interest quite a lot of the peloton.
By David Hunter Cluses – Saint Vulbas 186km Sprint stage. Thanks to the prologue, we have Tinkoff to control the stage for the yellow jersey. They will ensure the break only gets a small gap and then the teams of the sprinters will take over.
By David Hunter Les Gets 4km We have 4km of pain! An average gradient of 9.7% ,with the final kilometre at 15%. A prologue like this, really is a joy to see. Climbing ability will be important, more so than TT skills.
By David Hunter The Giro is over and it’s now all about preparing for the Tour. Some riders choose to go to the Tour de Suisse, but as it’s a week closer to the Tour, it’s not a great option. The real contenders will all come here. To reward them, the organisers have devised a brilliant week…
By David Hunter Cuneo – Torino 163km The end is nigh. A little roll into Torino and a sprint finish, well, that’s the plan!
