Critérium du Dauphiné 2016 – Stage 3 Preview
By David Hunter Boen sur Lignon – Tournon sur Rhone 187.5km The peloton head past Saint Etienne, a city where I have enjoyed many a drink! Beware the little kicker, as the Aussies would say.

By David Hunter Creches sur Saone – Chalmazel 168km A much harder day in the saddle. It’s not a mountain top finish, so this will interest quite a lot of the peloton.
By David Hunter Cluses – Saint Vulbas 186km Sprint stage. Thanks to the prologue, we have Tinkoff to control the stage for the yellow jersey. They will ensure the break only gets a small gap and then the teams of the sprinters will take over.
By David Hunter Les Gets 4km We have 4km of pain! An average gradient of 9.7% ,with the final kilometre at 15%. A prologue like this, really is a joy to see. Climbing ability will be important, more so than TT skills.
By David Hunter The Giro is over and it’s now all about preparing for the Tour. Some riders choose to go to the Tour de Suisse, but as it’s a week closer to the Tour, it’s not a great option. The real contenders will all come here. To reward them, the organisers have devised a brilliant week…
By David Hunter Cuneo – Torino 163km The end is nigh. A little roll into Torino and a sprint finish, well, that’s the plan!
By David Hunter Guillestre – Sant’Anna di Vinadio 134km Another short beautiful stage. No flat kilometres, all climbing and descending.
By David Hunter Pinerolo – Risoul 162km Another short, but brutal stage.
By David Hunter Muggio – Pinerolo 240km What a pointlessly long stage! It’s another day that Kruijswijk needs to survive.
By David Hunter Molvena – Cassano d’Adda 196km Sprint time. This is what the Italian sprinters have been waiting for.
By David Hunter Bressanone – Andalo 132km A short stage. Expect some fireworks. The day after the rest day is always a worry.
By David Hunter Castelrotto – Alpe di Siusi 10.8km ITT Mountain time trial day. One of the reasons I love the Giro, is their own love of the mountain TT. It really is a very special day.
By David Hunter Alpago – Corvara 210km Day 2 of the Giro! The day begins with 94km of climbing. Best of luck to the sprinters left!
By David Hunter Palmanova – Cividale del Friuli 170km Friday the 13th! This is the first of three huge days in the mountains.
By David Hunter Noale – Bibione 182km The last sprint for some of the bunch. It’s safe to say that Greipel and Ewan will be leaving the Giro after this stage. It represents one more chance at a stage win.
By David Hunter Modena – Asolo 227km Another long day in the saddle. The end of the stage is much harder than the profile suggest.
By David Hunter Campi Bisenzio – Sestola 219km The 2nd week begins. A tough day after a rest day is always difficult for the riders. No one is 100% sure how they’ll react, so quite a lot of riders will feel nervous about this stage.
By David Hunter Chianti 40.5km ITT A typically Italian TT. With the rest day following, some of the riders might reward themselves with a glass of the local wine. They’ll have earned it!
