Belkin goes for Bos in Scheldeprijs
The Belkin Pro Cycling TEAM will work for Theo Bos on Wednesday in the Scheldeprijs. Sports Director Michiel Elijzen hopes that the team can help the sprinter to achieve a big result.
“Looking at the course, we will have a very strong team at the start,” said Elijzen. “Normally a bunch kick decides the Scheldeprijs and with the train we have, we should be able to do well.”
Bad weather could frustrate a bunch sprint in Schoten but Elijzen has absolutely no worries about that. “If the race pans out differently, is not that big of a problem. We have several irons in the fire. Barry Markus, who finished third last year, and Moreno Hofland are fast as well.”
Theo Bos
Theo Bos has been training hard in recent weeks and is ready for the next period of racing, which will start on Wednesday with the Scheldeprijs, an important race for Bos.
“I placed third in 2012, and I hope to improve that performance this year. We have a strong team and so I will be confident going into the final, which will be hectic as always. Normally, it’s hard to control the sprint, but with these guys, we can pull it off.”
Bos’ training gave him good feedback. “I’ve had a good training period after Handzame Classic and I’m very happy with my form. I’m satisfied with how my training blocks went and I feel that I can move forward with this. I’m really looking forward to start racing again on Wednesday.”
Boom and Vanmarcke
Lars Boom and Sep Vanmarcke will line-up for the start in Antwerpen, as well. The Scheldeprijs fits perfectly in their preparation towards Paris-Roubaix.
“Lars is coming back after an injury and for him, this race is a good opportunity to dot the I’s,” said Elijzen. “For Sep, it’s a good way to maintain his shape.”
